Multiday Kayaking

We realise that we're not all made for camping in the wilderness. Therefore, we decided to offer a more luxurious alternative where guests can enjoy the best sea kayaking that Iceland has to offer while staying in comfortable accommodation. We travel light since we don't have to carry camping and cooking gear and everything is a bit simpler in operation. That provides more time and energy for you to enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife of the Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. We stay in Hesteyri for one night, the small abandoned village, where the old doctor's residence will be our home. The next two nights we stay in the old farmhouse in Kvíar that stood empty for over 60 years until we rebuilt it. These houses have everything you need for a perfect stay off the grid. The sauna is available in the evenings to soothe sore muscles and if we’re lucky, the nearby Arctic Fox may come to say hello. The kayaking itself provides amazing opportunities to see wildlife in its natural habitat. Sea birds, marine mammals and Arctic Foxes are plentiful, and we blend right in when we’re in our sea kayaks. This trip is our medium difficulty trip, not quite as easy going as Wild Camp Discovery but not as difficult as Coastal Kayaking Adventure. This trip is suited to those with some experience. The longer distances require good strength and technique which takes some practice.

Glacier Fjords Kayaking

This is our longest sea kayak trip. It is a combination of Glacier Fjords Kayaking and Coastal Kayaking Adventure put end to end to create a truly wild adventure. Experience the best of both worlds, the beautiful fjords of Jökulfirðir glacial fjords in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve and Ísafjarðardjúp bay. Both of these areas are considered to offer the best sea kayaking in Iceland. Numerous bird species spend the summer in the area and there is a great chance to spot whales, porpoises, dolphins and seals. We spend the first three nights in comfortable houses and the remaining two nights wild camping on remote beaches. A unique combination which will keep you entertained until the very end! We paddle under towering cliffs, negotiating the waves and rocks which demonstrate nature’s raw power. We will take time to explore rocky coves and inlets and try our hand at surfing small waves should we encounter any. The camp to camp aspect of this trip along with the exposure to the open ocean and long open water crossings make to journey more suited to kayakers with substantial experience under their belt. If your experience is limited we suggest exploring other trips such as Wild Camp Discovery or Glacier Fjords Kayaking.

Paddle in the Wild 

This three-day sea kayak adventure is truly a unique experience. Explore Ísafjarðardjúp bay in all its glory, searching for marine mammals and elusive sea birds. Enjoy dinner on a remote beach and sleep on a peninsula surrounded by breathtaking wildlife, beautiful sunsets, colourful flora and rich history. Ísafjarðardjúp bay is truly a special place in many ways. The bay offers the chance not only to see, but to paddle amongst the diverse wildlife that calls Iceland its home. Millions of sea birds such as Puffins, Eider Ducks, Guillemots and Oystercatchers flock to these shores to breed, as well as the opportunistic Eagles and Falcons which are looking for prey. Whales, dolphins and seals are often seen in the bay, and the serenity of the kayak is by far the best way to seamlessly immerse yourself into the environment. Our guides will keep you entertained with many facts, stories and pieces of local gossip. This trip is suitable for beginner kayakers. If you are in good physical shape and have a thirst for adventure, then you will do very well on this trip.
